What is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy which helps an individual examine personal difficulties, which may be overwhelming and causing that person psychological distress.
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is similar to Counselling and can help people with long term or recurring problems reach the root of their difficulties. Counsellors and Psychotherapists listen to your problems, and aim to enable you find confidence within to manage the difficulties inhibiting you. This can increase your self awareness, understanding, and assist you gain a perspective on your concerns, and manage your life effectively.
How can Counselling help me?
An independent Counsellor can offer you assistance with emotional and family difficulties, who is outside of your , social, and family work networks. Counselling takes place within a safe, confidential, environment. A Counsellor will listen and may ask you questions to assist you think matters through. Counselling may offer an opportunity to examine problems and concerns through a process of careful consideration of your thoughts and feelings assisting you find a way through your difficulties.
Is your service confidential?

Counselling and Psychotherapy are completely confidential. It is a professional requirement that clinical supervision of the casework takes place at least once a month. This is also completely confidential. On very rare occasions, when for example the safety of children or vulnerable adults may be at risk, it may be necessary to break confidentiality but not without discussing it with the client first. I adhere to the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, Code of Ethics”.

How long is a Counselling session and how many sessions will I need?
A Counselling session lasts an hour. An initial consultation is offered to a client, during which an assessment is made of their difficulties, and to see how I may be of assistance. The number of sessions will depend on the client’s level of difficulties. In order to ensure you are benefiting from Counselling at this time we have regular reviews of your progress.
What fees do you charge?

Currently Hourly Individual sessions £55 , Couples 1.5 hour Assessment Sessions £65, thereafter Couple  hourly Sessions £60. Fees for Groups and Staff Counselling in Organisations, please call to discuss.

If you have medical insurance your benefits may include funding for Counselling and Psychotherapy, please ask your insurer for confirmation that this is the case.

When are Appointments available ?
Week Day times and Evenings , and occasionally weekends ( Saturdays AM )

What if I have to cancel an Appointment ?
24 hours notice needs to be given, or full payment for the missed session may need to be made.
